Google Proposes Hostile Takeover Bid
SAN JOSE, California- Google Inc. (http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=GOOG) has made a hostile takeover bid for the purchase of Time Warner Inc.(http://finance.google.com/finance?client=ob&q=TWX). The purchase price has been reported at $50 billion dollars in both cash and stocks. $35 billion being cash to stock holders, $10 billion in stock and the remaining $5 billion in assumed debt.
This move has left the CEO of Yahoo Inc., Terry Semel, and The CEO of Microsoft Inc., Steve Ballamer, troubled. Yahoo ( http://sg.finance.yahoo.com/q?s=YHOO) hoping to be bought out by Time Warner while Microsoft ( http://www.microsoft.com/msft/default.mspx) was looking to buy Time Warner.
Dr. Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google, was quoted saying: “Google strikes while the iron’s hot and the iron’s hot right now in the media industry. This is the correct move at the correct time for Google.”

GETTYSBURG, Penn.-On the hot, dewy day of Nov. 19, over 1,500 people gathered to hear President Abraham Lincoln gave a noble speech about the battle of Gettysburg. Lincoln declared that part of the battlefield will serve as a memorial for the 7,500 soldiers lost in the battle. "We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this." Lincoln said.
With our nation in a state of war, it was obvious that a main goal of this speech was to motivate the people of this great country. Lincoln stated: "the great task remaining before us -- that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain-"
Many were intrigued by this address and it may be just what America needs to get us through this war. We are fighting for many honorable causes and it is comforting to know that we have a leader who can carry us through.
Lincoln ended his speech by saying: "that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth. "

Logan, UT.- When you are about to receive some kind of medical treatment, it can always seem frightening. Most of us don't have a clear knowledge about what we are about to go through. Well all of that is changing thanks to ClearPoint. This is a company that provides patients with information about certain types of medical procedures they are about to undergo including pregnancy, in/out patient surgery and physical therapy just to name a few. There is no cost to patients. It is all included with the cost of the surgery.
Preston Parker, senior vice president of ClearPoint, said, “This is a way to cut down on time and money. Patients who lack information have a slower recovery time. Patients come more prepared and this reduces the amount of surgeries hospitals have to reschedule. It really is a win win situation.”
ClearPoint meets with doctors here in Cache Valley to learn about the information for procedures. They then provide simulated instruction, DVD's and different literature to show patients what is going to happen.
ClearPoint was created in January of 2006. It is currently working with Mountain West Physical Therapy and Cache Valley Specialty Hospital but hopes to soon be expanding. So far there is no negative feedback. The company is partly founded by health-care providers.

A legend dead
Illinois, Chicago- Oprah Winfrey, a legend, passed away after affection from her fans got out of hand.
Around 3:30 pm, Oprah was walking to her car after filming her show at Harpo Studios. Adoring fans spotted her and immediately wanted to get closer to the star. There were so many people that body guards could not fight them off and Oprah eventually suffocated.
Oprah has been an inspiration to men and women all over the world. She began her broadcasting career when she was only 19, and became the first African- American women to anchor the news in Nashville. She is most famously known for The Oprah Winfrey Show which has been the number one talk show for 21 seasons being broadcast in 134 countries.
Oprah received countless awards throughout her life including Television Performer of the Year, National Freedom Award, Humanitarian Award, and Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame just to name a few. She traveled all over and used her fame and fortune to help those in need. Her most famous quote “live your best life” has radiated in the hearts of thousands and will be a lasting legacy of Oprah.
Oprah is survived by her partner, Steadman Graham, her four dogs and countless fans a cross the world. She will be deeply missed.

Trial set for burglary case
Logan, Utah- The trial date has been set for March 21st to determine the consequences for last weeks break in to a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Noel Mayfield, district attorney, said that she has "presented sufficient evidence". Jim Michael’s, 35, and a 15-year-old juvenile, whose name is not being released, are the prime suspects in this case. The two individuals are said to be aquantices and are suspected to have been involved in previous crimes together. Michael’s, who is out on a 5,000 dollar bail, faces up to one year in prison while it has yet to be decided how the juvenile will be tried.
Robbie Cochren, defense attorney, is representing Michael’s and feels that there is not enough valid evidence to convict him. "This will be an interesting trial because Judge Mayfield is unpredictable". Michael’s is pleading innocent.
There is no relation between Noel Mayfield and Judge Alan Mayfield.

PNS: Crime
Burglary in local LDS meeting house
Early yesterday morning, a meetinghouse of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was burglarized. The meetinghouse is located on 900 North and 1600 East in Logan Utah.
Sheriff Deputy, Jeoffery Hasty, said there was no forced entry. He believes two juveniles climbed through a small open window. There were two smashed computer monitors on the floor, and various computer equipment is missing. Right now they are working with finger print evidence to determine the suspects. Hasty said that the case is "pretty cut and dry".
Lawrence (Larry) Shirk is the presiding bishop over the Hillcrest 1st ward which meets in this building. Shirk was the last one to leave the building last night. He had opened up his window for some fresh air and forgot to lock it. Shirk said that luckily all church records had been deleted off the computer equipment stolen, and transferred to newer devices. He left the building around 11:00 p.m.
Robert (Bob) Knotz was the first to arrive at the building. He got there around 6:00 a.m. and promptly called the police. "I’m glad nobody got hurt…I’m excited to get back to my ceiling tiles".
